Tribal Long Term Service and Support National Resource Center

With this announcement, the Office of American Indian, Alaskan Natives and Native Hawaiian Program (OAIANNHP) is proposing to award one new cooperative agreement for a 5-year grant period to fund a National Resource Center on "American Indian, Alaskan Native and Native Hawaiian Long-Term Service and Support‚Äů (NRCAIANNHLTSS). ¬†The national resource center will address the unmet needs of tribal-specific and culturally appropriate LTSS information and guidance to tribes. The outcomes of the FOA will be to; 1) to create a network of navigators through recruitment and training that will assist tribes in the development of appropriate LTSS in response to identified, tribe-specific needs; and 2) based on documented best practices, the¬†resource center will develop a practical and hands on toolkit for tribes to assist in implementing LTSS in their individual tribal communities. ¬†Additionally, the resource center will further target its services to the 28 tribes that receive Title VI grants under the OAIANNHP, however it will also have publicly available resources that are accessible to all tribes and organizations that work with the American Indian, Alaskan Native and Hawaiian populations. The resource center will also focus on improving the lives of those served by ACL by supporting the development of tribal-specific LTSS that assist older adults and people with disabilities while also empowering tribes to develop programs that are integrated into their unique culture.

Through this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), the National Cancer Institute (NCI) invites U01 cooperative agreement applications for Physical Sciences-Oncology Network (PS-ON). Stimulants and HIV: Addressing Contemporary and Recurring Epidemics (R61/R33 - Clinical Trial Required)

Stimulant use has been increasing among opioid users since 2016, based on overdose data and this makes control of the opioid epidemic more difficult, as it occurs in addition to the continuing influx of fentanyl and related compounds. Stimulant/opioid users present unfamiliar clinical issues to providers and experienced providers often find polysubstance users less motivated to address stimulant use. Stimulant use also has continued to account for a substantial fraction of HIV cases among gay men and other MSM. Much of this use is problematic/episodic (meth, cocaine, ketamine) and does not rise to the level of SUD or represents mild SUD despite problematic practices (syringe sharing, unprotected sex, etc.). We have limited tools for stimulant treatment and even fewer tools for addressing non-SUD or mild SUD stimulant use. New initiatives should incorporate new treatments as they become available. Particular attention is needed re: stimulant use in the context of polysubstance use that includes opioids including identification of motivations and contexts for more effectively implementing intervention.

Occupational Safety and Health Research (R01)

The purpose of the R01 grant program is (1) to develop an understanding of the risks and conditions associated with occupational diseases and injuries, (2) to explore methods for reducing risks and preventing or minimizing exposure to hazardous conditions in the workplace, and (3) to translate significant scientific findings into prevention practices and products that will effectively reduce work-related illnesses and injuries. The Research Project Grant (R01) supports a discrete, specified, circumscribed project in scientific areas that represent the investigators specific interests and competencies and that fall within the mission of NIOSH.
